Directions to Brevard when
coming from the north:
Take I-40 to Asheville, take exit 46 (I-26) east toward
Hendersonville, take exit 40 (Hwy 280) to Brevard. (See
directions from Brevard to the Lake below)
Directions Brevard when coming from Charlotte and the
southeast:
I-85 west take I-26 at Spartanburg, SC, west toward
Hendersonville, take exit 40 (Hwy 280) to Brevard. (See
directions from Brevard to the Lake below)
Directions to Rainbow Lake when coming from Atlanta and
west:
I-85 east take exit 1 at the South Carolina border on to SC
Route 11 after about 45 miles go west on Route 178, about 5
miles after crossing the North Carolina border turn right on
Middle Fork Rd. which ends at East Fork Rd. Turn right on
East Fork Rd. and follow East Fork to the East Fork Baptist
Church on the right. Rainbow Lake Drive is on the left.
Directions from Greenville:
Follow Rt. 276 north from Greenville to Brevard.
Approximately 5 miles after crossing the NC state line, turn
Left on East Fork Rd. (there is a sign on the right for Ash
Grove Resort). Follow East Fork for approximately 7 miles
until you come to Rainbow Lake Drive on the Right. Rainbow
Lake Drive is just across the road from the East Fork
Baptist Church.
Directions from Toxaway, Cashiers, Highlands and Rt. 64 West:
Follow Route 64 East towards Brevard. Cross over the French Broad River, after .6 mi. turn left following signs for Route 178 South (Pickens Highway). Drive through the town of Rosman. Leaving Rosman you will cross over the French Broad River again. Follow 178 and take your first left on to East Fork Rd. in about .7 miles. After 3.8 miles on East Fork the road turns right. Go another .2 miles, East Fork Baptist Church will be on the right, Rainbow Lake Drive in the left. Drive on in to the resort.
Directions using GPS
We don't suggest using GPS to get to Rainbow Lake
because the apparently
shortest path in the mountains is not always the best, but
if you choose
to use GPS.
From downtown Brevard, enter destination as the intersection
of East Fork
Rd. and Rainbow Lake Drive; you may be given a route via Rt.
276 South and
Island Ford Rd. or a route by Country Club Road, either one
is acceptable.
From Greenville, enter destination as the intersection of
East Fork Rd.
and Rainbow Lake Dr. and you will given a route via East
Fork Rd. off of
Rt. 276. Six miles down East Fork, Rainbow Lake Dr. is on
right.
From Atlanta, From Rt. 178N off of Rt. 11, enter the
destination of East
Fork Rd. and Rainbow Lake Dr. intersection, Brevard, NC. The
shortest
route is taken from Rocky Bottom, SC. Right on VanClayton
Memorial Hwy.
which become Sassafras Mtn. Rd. then left on Glady Fork
which ends on EastFork. Left on East Fork and Rainbow Lake
Dr. will be on your right in less than a mile. This is a
deep woods route shortcut, paved all the way. |

Then, once you're in Brevard, you can get here using this

Entering BREVARD on Rt. 64, look for BURGER KING on right.
Get in LEFT LANE and go STRAIGHT (do not follow the sign for Rt. 64 west).
Pass BREVARD COLLEGE on left.
Pass red-brick COURTHOUSE on left at Main St. intersection (top of the hill)
And go STRAIGHT through the intersection,.
At 3rd light go STRAIGHT entering NORTH COUNTRY CLUB Rd. (SUNSET MOTEL on left). Don’t bear right.
Pass BREVARD HIGH SCHOOL on left
At 1.8 miles turn right on SOUTH COUNTRY CLUB RD. (you can also follow the signs for Bike Route #1).
After 1.7 miles SOUTH COUNTRY CLUB RD. ends at ISLAND FORD RD. turn left.(Bike Route #1)
Proceed for .9 miles, you will cross over the FRENCH BROAD RIVER..
Turn right on WALNUT HOLLOW ROAD (there will be a sign for Rainbow Lake and one for Bike Route #1)
Go STRAIGHT for 3.5 miles,pass by the CONNESTEE FIRE DEPARTMENT on left (ignore any further signs for Bike Route #1).
At the end of 3.5 miles you will see EAST FORK BAPTIST CHURCH on the right and RAINBOW LAKE DRIVE on the Left. Drive in to the resort.

Cottage "A": After entering the
grounds, take your first right going up the hill and then
immediately turn right into the parking area for cottages
"A" and "B".
Cottage "B": After entering
the grounds, take your first right going up the hill and
then immediately turn right into the parking area for
cottages "A" and "B".
Cottage "C": After entering
the grounds, take your first right, going up the hill you
will pass cottage "A" and "B" and then cottage "C" on your
right. Turn left into the parking area marked "Parking for
"C" and "E".
Cottage "D": After entering
the grounds, take your first right, going up the hill you
will pass cottage "A" and "B", cottage "C" and then cottage
"D" on your right. Turn right into the parking area next to
cottage "D".
Cottage "E": After entering
the grounds, take your first right, going up the hill you
will pass cottage "A" and "B" and then cottage "C" on your
right. Turn left into the parking area marked "Parking for
"C" and "E".
Cottage "F": After entering
the grounds you will first pass cottages "A" and "B" on your
right, you will then come upon a road heading up the hill on
your right. Cottage "F" is the first cottage on the left
side of this road. Drive right into the parking area next to
this cottage.
Cottage "I": After entering
the grounds you will first pass cottages "A" and "B" on your
right, you will then come upon a road heading up the hill on
your right, do not go up the hill; continue on straight
ahead. You will travel down a hill to the end of the road
and come upon 3 cottages. Cottage "I" is the first cottage
on the right with a large parking area next to it. This is a
parking area for 2 cottages, so please don't park in the
middle of the space.
Cottage "J": After entering
the grounds you will first pass cottages "A" and "B" on your
right, you will then come upon a road heading up the hill on
your right, do not go up the hill; continue on straight
ahead. You will travel down a hill to the end of the road
and come upon 3 cottages. Cottage "I" is the first cottage
on the right, cottage "J" is the next cottage on the right
with the parking area between the two cottages. This is a
parking area for 2 cottages, so please don't park in the
middle of the space.
Cottage "K": After entering
the grounds you will first pass cottages "A" and "B" on your
right, you will then come upon a road heading up the hill on
your right, don't go up the hill; continue on straight
ahead. You will travel down a hill to the end of the road
and come upon 3 cottages. Cottage "K" is on the left next to
the lake.
Cottage "L": Once you are on
grounds, you can familiarize yourself with the patio and
boating areas; from the grounds you can look across the lake
where you will see where your cottage is located. The
cottages on the West side of the lake must be accessed from
Bird Haven Lane. Leave the resort and turn right on to the
main road (East Fork Rd.), Bird Haven Lane is about 300
yards down the road and is the third drive on the right.
Once you are on Bird Haven Lane, Cottage "L" is the fifth
house on the right. Park in the right side of the parking
area and follow the signs to the lakeside porch to the front
door.
Cottage "M": Once you are on
grounds, you can familiarize yourself with the patio and
boating areas; from the grounds you can look across the lake
where you will see where your cottage is located. The
cottages on the West side of the lake must be accessed from
Bird Haven Lane. Leave the resort and turn right on to the
main road (East Fork Rd.), Bird Haven Lane is about 300
yards down the road and is the third drive on the right.
Once you are on Bird Haven Lane, Cottage "M" is the fifth
house on the right. Park in the left side of the parking
area and follow the signs up the steps to the front door.
Cottage "P": Once you are on
grounds, you can familiarize yourself with the patio and
boating areas; from the grounds you can look across the lake
where you will see where your cottage is located. The
cottages on the West side of the lake must be accessed from
Bird Haven Lane. Leave the resort and turn right on to the
main road (East Fork Rd.), Bird Haven Lane is about 300
yards down the road and is the third drive on the right.
Once you are on Bird Haven Lane, Cottage "P" is the third
house on the right. Park in parking area and go to the lower
level. The upper level is never occupied.
Cottage "Q": Once you are on grounds, you can familiarize
yourself with the patio and boating areas. Cottage "Q" is on
Rainbow Lake Drive before the entrance to the resort
grounds. Turn around and leave the resort. Cottage "Q" is
the second home on the right just past the mailboxes, just
drive on up
the hill.
Cottage "T": Once you are on
grounds, you can familiarize yourself with the patio and
boating areas. Cottage "T" is on Rainbow Lake Drive before
the entrance to the resort grounds. Turn around and leave
the resort. Cottage "T" is the second home on the left with
the Rainbow Lake Sign at the base of the driveway.
